SHREDDER VS CRUSHER

A shredder is more versatile

Crusher for hard plastics requires a different configuration of the rotor and blades. "V-type" – for film waste, "Stepped" – for hard plastics. In most cases the crusher cannot cope sprues. The GRANGARO shredder with one rotor type and cutters configuration can grind film, cans, big bags and any sprues.

A shredder has a higher production output

Plastic crusher: their price differs from that of a shredder, but they also have low production output. For example, a good 75 kW European-made crusher with a size comparable to ours can grind up to 500 kg / h of LLDPE film on a 80-100 mm screen mesh. A 75 kW GRANGARO shredder can grind at least 1000 kg / h of LLDPE film on a 60 mm screen mesh.

A shredder is energy efficient, less noisy, can withstand metallic objects

A crusher is very noisy and runs continuously with heavy load and power consumption. A crasher cannot withstand any metallic objects. A shredder is less noisy, the blades never break in case of some wrapping wire or other small metal objects get in.

TYPES

The most common are rotor units, which are divided into several types.

  • Single-shaft crushers and shredders. Suitable for grinding medium sized and large waste. This type of shredder perfectly grinds hard plastic polymers. An important distinctive element of a single-shaft unit is a hydraulic plate- that presses pieces of recycled plastic into the rotor, ensuring the material is grasped by the blades;

  • Twin-shaft shredders. This type is suitable for intensively grinding plastic material. A twin-shaft shredding machine usualy operates without pushing plate, since the shafts rotate towards each other, simultaneously feeding plastic for grinding;

  • Four-shaft shredders. You can buy this type of plastic shredder, if you need to grind large-sized waste, such as barrels, bumpers, road barriers, etc. This machine consists of two main and two auxiliary shafts. This is how it works: auxiliary shafts begin the grinding of raw material, clinging and dragging it to the main shafts, which complete the grinding process.
