Melt index tester

The melt index tester is a device for measuring the melt flow index of molten plastic. The device is used in plastic waste and films recycling plants.

HOW IT WORKS

Thermoplastic materials under pressure and high temperatures are melted. In molten form, thermoplastic materials can then be turned into high quality products. An important property in the recycling process is the characteristic of the molten plastic. The flow rate through the capillary depends on the molecular weight and its distribution. Measurement of flow indices or polymer fluidity level is a quality control method. These parameters characterize plastic.
